Given the ongoing pandemic, it may not surprise you to find out Fortnite have declared in a statement they are planning no physical Fortnite events throughout 2021. This will apply worldwide.

With some countries having handled the pandemic better than others and are even holding sold-out sporting events their statement does not refer coronavirus. The closest they get is when they say: "With so much still unknown about what is practical and safe." Before they specifically point out there will be no Fortnite World Cup: "We do not plan to hold in-person events in 2021, including a Fortnite World Cup"

They promise online events, such as Fortnite Champion Series, will continue. Chapter Two - Series Five is scheduled for February 2 2021. Epic has said that the longer than usual wait: "Allows plenty of time for players to adjust to the new season and give our team more time to make adjustments before FNCS."

Their statement also referred to the fact they are looking for other options they can explore for high-level competitions. These could include:
  • Weekly tournaments
  • Unique tournaments
  • Creator Cups
